Tonia Jacobs Deese, Waccamaw Siouan, was recently awarded the 2023 UNC School of Social Work Recognition Award for "Excellence in Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion".  Tonia was nominated by her peers as her excellent advocacy work is extremely valuable and noticed by all who have the pleasure of working with her.

MNAA is fortunate to have Mrs. Deese in our area as she facilitates our Talking Circles and coordinates many fitness initiatives.

Tonia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
